Bohle affair of the heart: Support of the SOS Children's Village in South Africa

The world is struggling with the Corona situation. In countries that were already characterized by poverty before the emergency, the extent of the pandemic is even more noticeable. This makes it all the more important for Bohle AG to continue its support of the SOS Children's Village in South Africa this year.

South Africa experienced a severe third Corona wave in the middle of the year. Often associated with this is rising unemployment, not to mention the loss of sick family members. Many families, already living at subsistence level, are barely able to feed their children. Added to this are the psychological challenges of the pandemic and the increasing violence against women.

In such precarious situations, the SOS Children's Village in Ennerdale, near Johannesburg, is a place of refuge. It offers a place to go for those children and adolescents who need family protection or who lack the basic provision of meals. An additional educational program is designed to help the adolescents attend school and prepare them for their subsequent careers.

Many people lack financial support during the Corona situation. There are no short-time allowances, unemployment insurances or similar. Financial donations for private individuals and for social institutions are therefore all the more important. The SOS Children's Village has taken in 18 new children this year - a number that has never been higher and yet is far from including all those in need of protection. "Thanks to the physical proximity of our branch in South Africa to the SOS Children's Village, we are always able to see for ourselves what the situation is like on the ground. With the financial support, we not only want to create more places in the facility, but also support the good care and hygiene standards of the children's village," says Arne Klöfkorn, CEO of Bohle AG. If sufficient funds are raised, it is also planned to build a new protective wall to protect the village from external unrest and looting that hit the area in the middle of the year.

Bohle AG would like to thank Mr. Patrick Kulati in his role as National Director of SOS Children's Village for the perseverance and tireless passion of his team.
