What different types of shower door seals are there?
To ensure that the shower seals for the door fit perfectly, there is a wide range of variants in different lengths and shower seal profiles. A shower can be sealed in the best possible way with the right model. The right seal can be selected depending on the size of the shower door and the type of stop. We stock shower door seals for the following door types:
- Single-action door
- Swing door
The shower door magnetic seal is a special type of shower seal. This special design is characterized by an integrated magnetic strip, which ensures a particularly convenient closing process thanks to its attractive force. We offer various thicknesses (6 - 8 mm, 10 - 12 mm) and angles (90°, 135°, 180°) for Bohle shower door seals with magnetic profile, as well as for all other shower door seals. The angles refer to the installation location, i.e. straight or corner. The different thicknesses correspond to the glass thickness.
Example 10 - 12 mm: This gasket can be used for glass with a thickness of 10 - 12 mm. With a glass thickness of 12 mm, the insertion of the glass closes at the studs. With 8 mm glass thickness, the glass is inserted up to the bottom of the U-profile and therefore 2 mm deeper into the sealing profile.
Another distinguishing criterion for shower door seals is the position of the sealing lip. Depending on whether the shower door seal is to be fitted at the side or at the bottom, we offer the following options: Sealing lip for shower door side Seal for shower door bottom A shower door seal for the bottom glass edge as well as for the side can be of different lengths. (Caution: not to be confused with a long or short sealing lip.) Most shower door seals from Bohle are available in the following lengths:
- 2.000 mm
- 2.010 mm
- 2.160 mm
- 2.200 mm
- 2.500 mm

What criteria should be used to select a shower door seal?
It is important to pay attention to the respective gap dimensions before selecting a shower door seal. This is because these have a significant influence on the functionality and service life of the shower door seal.
Gap dimension, what does that mean? This is the gap dimension (usually between the glass and the shower tray or tiled floor, or between two glass elements) that is to be covered by the seal. The measurement should be taken while the door is closed. The shower door seal should not deviate by more than 2 mm from the gap dimension. It is less of a problem if the length is not exactly right. This can be shortened with an appropriate mitre cutter.

Which material is recommended for a shower door seal?
PVC is the most suitable material for manufacturing shower door seals. It is also the most common production material. The seal consists partly of hard and partly of soft PVC. Both parts are joined together. The combination of soft and hard PVC ensures a very high degree of flexibility and stability at the same time. The shower door seals are particularly user-friendly and can be fitted simply by sliding them into place. Alternatively, the seal is self-adhesive.

How often should shower door seals be replaced?
There is no general time period after which a shower door seal needs to be replaced. This is because various factors, such as the frequency of use of the shower or the frequency and type of cleaning, play a role here. However, the following signs indicate an urgent need for action:- Discoloration
- Unpleasant odors
- Fragile sections in the seal
- Mold formation in the worst case
In all these cases, it is advisable to replace the shower door seal promptly.
