The gas pressure spring is installed in the Profi Drill glass drilling machine. The extension force is 600 newtons.
The gas pressure spring is a hydro-pneumatic, self-contained and maintenance-free adjustment element. It is filled with compressed gas (nitrogen), which is used to provide the spring force. The spring force results from the internal pressure (maximum 160 bar unloaded) in the cylinder, which is generated by the nitrogen filling medium. In the gas spring, this pressure acts on the cross-sectional area of the piston rod. In the unloaded state, the piston rod (Ø 8 mm, hard chrome-plated steel) is always extended. When the piston rod is pushed in, the volume in the cylinder is reduced and the gas is compressed. This results in an increase in force (progression) of the gas spring depending on the diameter of the piston rod and the volume of the cylinder.
The black-painted steel pressure tube has a diameter of 19 mm. The gas spring contains an oil filling for lubrication and end position damping.
